CONGRATULATIONS 7th Graders !
MAP Scores (Measure of Academic Progress) for Reading were again EXCELLENT this year.
The Student (& I) worked extremely hard this year and attained a 4 Point Growth Span, which translates into 2 YEARS growth in Reading Abilities!

Assignments Week of May 16th-20th
Reading in Literature Book "Otzi, the Iceman"; also doing Internet search on Otzi and comparing the information.
We will also be reading: "An American Plague: the True and Terrifying Story of the Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1793" Chapter 1: "No One Noticed".
In both articles we will be completing various forms of Janet Allen's Graphic Organizer for the 5W's and H.
Then on to more fun readings: Sarah Cynthia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage OUt p 365 and Annabel Lee p. 728
All Literature Books will be turned in Week of May 23rd to Mrs. Smith.

Essays are: Rattlesnake Hunt, From Barrio Boy, I am a Native of North American, and All together Now
Will continue working on Decoding words and syllablication.
MAP testing starts Monday, May 16th with the Reading Section...Do well and remember your goals! Anyone increasing their scores over the Winter results receives a homework pass.

Conferences + Book Fair February 16 & 17
Conferences are soon approaching. Make sure you have at least one book read.
Conferences are student lead, and you will need to update your parents on your Reading and Math Improvement as demonstrated by the MAP (Measures of Academic Improvement) Scores. Be sure to have some samples of your work in your folder from each class.
Book Fair will start Friday, February 11th and continue through Thursday, February 17th.

In September, all students complete the multiple intelligences inventory. The information from this is graphed by each student, and the strengths identified are used to reinforce learning. As we learn and review content, lessons are designed to address different learning styles, and study skills taught which use the strengths of each individual student.
